"Art for me is a path towards finding peace and calm. Through my work I want to introduce you to a captivating world of natural patterns, algorithm, beauty and entropy. Captured in a mixture of digital and physical artisanship"

Algorithmic Still life #10

The Algorithmic Still Life artworks are digitally made artworks. Using botanical patterns, algorithm and formulae I aim to create a natural sense of natural calm and entropy.

All the prints in this series are produced as a limited edition print. The prints are printed on archival papers by printers that specialize in museum grade printing. The frames are custom made by an artisan frame maker.

About me

Stephan Duq (b. 1983) is a Dutch artist with over 15 years of experience exploring the intersection of art, design, and storytelling. He began as a concept artist for games and films before sharing his expertise as a lecturer at the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU), specializing in visual design and narrative.

Through his work, Stephan Duq explores the duality between the natural and the artificial. By leveraging algorithms and calculations, he transforms the inherent perfection of digital craftsmanship into work that evoke the natural, the imperfect, and the entropic
